In keeping with Burleigh Brewing’s commitment to ‘local flavour’ we were recently involved in the ‘Long Lunch’ event held during Bond by the Lake at Bond University on October 14 2012. It was an afternoon full of sumptuous, locally sourced sustainable food, local wines and of course local, Burleigh Brewing beer! Every course was matched with a beer or wine and was a sight to behold! If you were lucky enough to snare one of the 100 tickets to this gourmet dining experience than you will know that dinner was definitely not needed that Sunday! Burleigh Brewing is proud to be a part of such a local grown and sourced, sustainable event and encourages anyone and everyone to get on down to their local fishmonger, butcher and fruit and veg market to find local produce that is fresh and best. Needless to say if you’re reading this than you already do that with your beer!
FIGJAM IPA has been making a name for itself all around the world recently. From winning a Gold Medal at the World Beer Champs in Chicago to being the topic of conversation on local radio!
We’re humbled by the award and chuffed to hear our mates Richard, Bridge and Spida are loving it too!
You can listen to a snippet below!
Cartons of FIGJAM are making their way to awesome venues and outlets now and should be available from the week of the 8th of October. You can click on our FIGJAM Tracker below to get your hands on some FIGJAM IPA – this is just a starting list with many more venues to be added over the next couple of weeks, so if you don’t see anything nearby, don’t panic!
There are more outlets to be added in all states – just keep checking back here for more info. And before you head off at breakneck speed to your nearest stockist – a word of caution – it might be a good idea to call ahead. Due to logistics associated with freight and deliveries for our wonderful sunburnt country, some venues will take a little longer to receive their stock.
Some tap venues might hold their kegs for a special event. But if they’re on our list, they WILL be getting FIGJAM.
So with all of that in mind, click here for the FIGJAM Tracker now!
20 Cartons Only!
Be here on bottling day to get one of the first 20 cartons of FIGJAM IPA!
To celebrate the launch of our latest Bit on the Side brew, we’re again offering a ‘Burleigh Brewer’s Dozen’ – the first 20 cartons will include a bonus 13th bottle, signed by our Brewmaster, Brennan, along with a surprise gift.
(And because we’re so excited about this beer, we’ve been busy whipping up some beer-y baked goodies for you to enjoy while you’re waiting in line!)
We’ll open the door on Thursday the 4th of October at 4pm - do whatever you need to do to get there…beg the boss for the arvo off, swap shifts, come down with the flu…
FIGJAM IPA is available by the bottle (collectible, 650ml screen-printed bottle $11) and by the carton (12 x 650ml bottles, $110).
We’ve got a case of the warm fuzzies here at the Brewery as we’ve received some really wonderful feedback in the last couple of weeks.
Whether it’s positive feedback, your Burleigh Brewing stories or suggestions and comments, we love to hear from Burleigh Brewing devotees.
“I finally got my hands on a Black Giraffe (the beer, not a real Giraffe) and I just wanted to say that it is what has been missing from my life. I love a good dark beer infused with generous amounts of coffee. Thank you to Brennan and everyone who helped make that beer.”
“I recently began a low calorie diet and in the space of 9 weeks have lost 11.5 kg. Occasionally I have had a night off to have a barbie with friends and discovering BIGHEAD has allowed me to continue socialising without the guilt trip of drinking alcohol. I have tried just about every other low carb beer on the market and not one has any taste, body or character but, then I discovered BIGHEAD and not only does BIGHEAD taste fantastic and remind me of the real beers I used to drink back in England before moving to Australia but at less than 100 calories a bottle, I am not hurting my efforts at weight loss either.”
You keep drinking it and we’ll keep making it!

The month of May was a crazy, wonderful time for the Burleigh Brewing Crew. It started off with winning a Gold Medal at the World Beer Cup for our German-style Wheat Beer, HEF, and along the way we were blessed with many other pieces of good news. AIBA Medals, GC Business Excellence Awards, two new staff members, housewarmings, citizenship ceremonies, birthdays and even a baby on the way to boot!
To celebrate, we all headed off to the opening night of the National Rodeo Finals at the Gold Coast Convention Centre, courtesy of the Rodeo folk, for a few Burleigh beers, laughs and a good old fashioned catch up. In between cheering and squirming (is a cow’s neck really that tough?) we were treated to a night of amazing animal handling skills and a whole lot of rough and tumble.
We’d like to take this opportunity to say thank you to the Australian Professional Rodeo Committee for a fantastic night.
Burleigh Brewing is proud to announce that we are partnering with SurfAidto support thei r upcoming fundraising event “Surfing Chefs” in Brisbane.
Former world surfing champion Martin “Pottz” Potter is joining four of Australia’s top chefs in the kitchen to raise money for humanitarian organization SurfAid.
Potter, the 1989 ASP World Surfing Champion, will be matching his culinary skills with celebrity chef Ben O’Donoghue (South Bank Surf Club, Brisbane) and special guest chefs Russell Blaikie (Must Winebar, Perth and Margaret River), Ryan Squires (Esquire, Brisbane) and Shinichi Maeda (Sake Restaurant and Bar, Brisbane).
The team will prepare a five-course meal – canapés, three degustation courses and dessert – which will be served alongside premium wines from Devil’s Lair, Margaret River.
The Surfing Chefs Brisbane fundraising dinner, sponsored by GBST, is being held at O’Donoghue’s South Bank Surf Club on Thursday 6 September.
Must’s Russell Blaikie created the Surfing Chefs concept and the first event was held at Must Margaret River last October. It raised $26,000.
“When I came up with the concept last year I simply wanted to engage a bunch of great local chefs, who are passionate about the SurfAid cause, and cook some great food and raise a bit of money,” Blaikie said.
“Now I think I’ve created a monster, but it’s a happy monster. Ben’s pulled together an amazing crew in Queensland – these guys are at the top of their game – and I’m stoked to join them and surf god Pottz is coming along as well to shake the pans with us.
“I don’t know if we really know what we’re in for but I do know that the punters will be eating some amazing food cooked by chefs who really understand the cause of SurfAid.”
There will also be an auction on the night, with items including a surf lesson with two-time world champion Mick Fanning, a rare signed surfboard from the 2012 Australian Open of Surfing, and resort accommodation in Indonesia.
Cartons and kegs are now making their way to the awesome venues and outlets who managed to get their orders in before we ran out. You can click on our Giraffe Tracker below to get your hands on some Black Giraffe – this is just a starting list with many more venues to be added over the next couple of weeks, so if you don’t see anything nearby, don’t panic! There are more outlets to be added in all states – just keep checking back here for more info. And before you head off at breakneck speed to your nearest stockist, a word of caution – it might be a good idea to call ahead. Due to logistics associated with freight and deliveries, some venues will take a little longer to receive their stock. Some tap venues might hold their kegs for a special event. But if they’re on our list, they WILL be getting Black Giraffe. So with all of that in mind, click here for the Giraffe Tracker now!
Update: Black Giraffe will be available at all BWS stores nationally this week – but you’ll have to be fast as each store has only 1 carton each. Get in quick before this wild beast becomes extinct!
When you do get your hands on a bottle of Black Giraffe, pay our brewers the ultimate compliment and drink it right away! There are very few beers that are designed to improve with age and Black Giraffe is NOT one of them. To enjoy the aromas and flavours that our brewers worked so hard to create, drink Black Giraffe now. If you do want to save it up for a special occasion, don’t hide it in the back of your cupboard. Pop it in the fridge with a ‘Do Not Touch’ sign and it will be in fantastic condition when you’re ready to pop the cap. Of course, we’d be chuffed if you displayed the empty, collectible bottle in a prominent location when you’re done though!
