ABV: 5.7 %
Style: European Lager
Tasting Notes: Balanced Lager with mild spicy Hop character

If you’ve been around Burleigh long enough, you’ve probably heard of Duke Premium – the very first beer we brewed back in 2006. And now, as we celebrate our 18th birthday, we’re bringing it back for a limited time, just for you. Duke Premium will be flowing on tap at the Burleigh Brewing Taphouse from September 21st, and you’ll also be able to get it in bottles exclusively from our Taphouse or online throughout September (whilst stocks last).
But what makes Duke Premium so special?
If you’re not a local, you might not fully appreciate what makes Duke Premium such an iconic brew. That’s because it’s rooted in something deeply personal: our love for classic European brewing traditions and our dedication to creating beers that embody quality, balance, and character. We created Duke Premium to be enjoyed by those closest to us – our Burleigh family, our local community.
The Beer that Started it All
Duke Premium is more than just our first beer – it’s the foundation of everything we stand for at Burleigh Brewing. Meticulously handcrafted to the highest standard, this craft lager is filtered and brewed in the classic pilsner style, with a delicate balance of malt and European hops. The result? A clean, refreshing palate, with a dry, crisp finish that pairs perfectly with anything from a backyard BBQ to a gourmet meal.
Why We're Bringing Duke Back
We might be a little biased, but we truly believe Duke Premium is something special. And after all these years, we’ve heard the calls to bring it back. So, as we celebrate our 18th birthday, what better way to thank you, our loyal Burleigh Brewing community, than by reviving the beer that started it all?
MY WIFE'S BITTER
Burleigh Brewing’s My Wife’s Bitter: The Return of a Classic
First Released: 2008
ABV: 5.3 %
Style: Extra Special Bitter
Tasting Notes: Traditional English Ale with Chocolate and Caramel notes
Ingredients: Water, Natural Hops, Malted Barley, Wheat
There are some love stories that transcend time, and in the world of beer, few are as cheeky and memorable as My Wife’s Bitter. Originally brewed in 2008, this one-of-a-kind English ale quickly captured the hearts (and taste buds) of Burleigh Brewing fans. Now, as part of our 18th Birthday celebration, we're thrilled to announce the limited-time return of My Wife’s Bitter on tap starting September 21st. And just in time for the holidays, bottled versions will be exclusively available at the Taphouse and online come December.
This is not just another beer—it’s a tribute to the kind of love that only a master brewer could immortalize in a pint glass. Our co-founder and head brewer, Brennan, crafted this brew in honour of his wife, Peta. Now, some might argue that naming it My Wife’s Bitter was a bold move, but don’t let the name fool you—Peta is just as possessive of this beer as she is proud of it! And rightfully so.
A Brew That Balances Tradition and Fun
Inspired by the traditional English pub classic, this coastal version of a timeless brew is as refreshing in the summer as it is comforting in the winter. From the very first sip, you’ll notice its joyful smoothness, malty richness, and just a hint of nuttiness, thanks to a unique blend of English specialty malts. The soft caramel character rounds out the flavours, making it a versatile choice for pairing with a variety of foods—from robust meats like duck, beef, and lamb to nutty desserts. And while we haven’t officially tried it with breakfast cereals, we reckon anything with nuts would work nicely!
The Tale Behind the Name
When it comes to names, there’s no shortage of wit behind this one. As Brennan likes to say, “the apostrophe is possessive,” and much like his wife, this beer has a special place in our hearts (and hers!). Thankfully, this love story has a happy ending, as Peta’s enthusiasm for My Wife’s Bitter has only grown over the years.
Get ready to fall in love all over again—this time, with a beer.
HEF
What the Hef? It’s Back!
First Released: 2009
ABV: 5.4 %
Style: Hefeweizen
Tasting Notes: Traditional Bavarian Wheat beer with notes of Banana
Ingredients: Water, Natural Hops, Malted Barley, Wheat, Yeast
Hold onto your steins, because Hef is making a triumphant return! Originally released in 2009, this award-winning Hefeweizen is back for a limited time as part of Burleigh Brewing’s 18th Birthday celebration. And let’s be honest—there’s no better time to celebrate than during Oktoberfest! On September 21st, Hef will be back on tap at our Taphouse for the first time in years, alongside four other classic Burleigh brews in an exclusive throwback lineup.
With a fanbase that never stopped asking for its return, now’s your moment to taste what all the fuss is about.
Why Hef?
One sip of Hef and you’ll get it. This refreshing unfiltered wheat beer offers a soft, clean flavor with signature banana and clove notes—a perfect tribute to the classic Hefeweizen style. It’s a style steeped in tradition, known for its cloudy appearance from the retained yeast and wheat proteins. But don’t be fooled by its easygoing nature—Hef has earned its bragging rights, taking home a Gold medal at the 2011 World Beer Championships and another at the 2012 World Beer Cup. It’s truly a beer that embodies craft and quality.
A Tribute to Oktoberfest—and Our Heritage
With Oktoberfest just around the corner, there’s no better way to get in the spirit than with a pint of Hef. The unfiltered wheat beer style, or Hefeweizen, has long been celebrated during the festival, and our Hef stays true to that legacy. Brewed with a higher proportion of wheat alongside malted barley, German hops, yeast, and water, Hef’s simplicity and purity are a nod to the Reinheitsgebot, the German beer purity law of 1516. It’s the same law that once allowed the Bavarian royal family to create wheat beers exclusively, proving just how special this style truly is.
But our Hef isn’t just for Oktoberfest enthusiasts—it’s for anyone who appreciates great beer with a great story.
Whether you’re a longtime fan or you’ve never had the chance to try it, this is your moment to experience the beer that helped shape our brewery’s legacy.
BLACK GIRAFFE
Black Giraffe is Back: The Return of Our Award-Winning Black Coffee Lager
First Released: 2010
ABV: 6.0 %
Style: Coffee Lager
Tasting Notes: Full bodied black Lager with Chocolate & Espresso finish
Ingredients: Water, Barley, Wheat, Natural Hops, Yeast, Zarraffa's Coffee
If you’ve been a fan of Burleigh Brewing for a while, you’ll remember the sensation that was Black Giraffe. First released in 2010, this unique brew brought together two of life’s greatest pleasures: exceptional beer and world-class coffee. Now, to celebrate our 18th Birthday on September 21st, we're bringing it back for a limited release on tap, with bottles exclusively available at the Burleigh Brewing Taphouse and online.
What Makes Black Giraffe So Special?
Black Giraffe isn't just any beer—it’s a Black Coffee Lager brewed with Queensland’s own Zarraffa’s Coffee. Imagine the deep, rich flavors of an expertly pulled espresso shot infused with the refreshing, crisp finish of a lager. That’s right, with every pour of Black Giraffe, you’re getting the equivalent of one espresso shot per serve. It’s the perfect harmony of roast and brew, bringing out bold notes of caramel, chocolate, and toffee malt, rounded off by American hops for an extra punch.
We don’t do things halfway at Burleigh, so when it comes to Black Giraffe, we’ve gone all in. We use hundreds of kilos of locally roasted coffee to craft this beer, making it a true celebration of Queensland’s coffee culture. It’s no wonder Black Giraffe has earned four gold medals at the World Beer Championships.
Why It’s the Perfect Time for Its Return
As we celebrate 18 years of brewing, we couldn’t think of a better way to mark the occasion than with the return of one of our most beloved beers. Whether you’re a coffee aficionado, a beer enthusiast, or someone who enjoys both, Black Giraffe offers an unparalleled drinking experience. It’s smooth yet bold, with the perfect balance of malty sweetness and roasted coffee bitterness.
Get ready for Black Giraffe—back, bolder, and brewing up excitement like never before.
FIGJAM
FIGJAM IPA is Back: Celebrating the Return of a Burleigh Classic
First Released: 2012
ABV: 7.4 %
Style: India Pale Ale
Tasting Notes: Intense Floral, Hop forward American IPA
Ingredients: Water, Natural Hops, Malted Barley, Wheat, Yeast
Back by popular demand and just in time for our 18th Birthday Celebration, we’re reintroducing one of our most beloved limited releases—FIGJAM IPA! Originally launched in 2012, FIGJAM quickly earned its place in the hearts (and fridges) of IPA lovers, and now, for a limited time, it’s making a triumphant return.
The Story Behind FIGJAM IPA
At Burleigh Brewing, we’ve always believed in the power of balance—and FIGJAM is a true testament to that philosophy. We’ve carefully crafted this IPA to deliver the punch you’d expect from a classic India Pale Ale, but with a signature Burleigh twist. Through a precise balance of malt, hops, and alcohol, each sip delivers a firm bitterness that’s wrapped in waves of mango, stone fruit, and caramel malt, finished with a zesty hint of mandarin.
What makes FIGJAM truly special is its brewing process. We didn’t just throw hops in and call it a day—this IPA goes through a series of carefully timed hopping phases, creating layers of flavor that unfold with every taste. With 60 IBUs and a vibrant 15 EBC, FIGJAM is unapologetically bold while maintaining that smooth drinkability Burleigh fans know and love.
Why FIGJAM IPA?
If you know the history of IPAs, you know they were originally brewed strong and hoppy to survive long voyages from England to India. Today, we brew them that way simply because we love them—and FIGJAM is no exception. It’s an IPA that’s as big and bold as it thinks it is, with the kind of complexity that keeps you coming back for more.
Whether you’re an IPA aficionado or just looking for something new to elevate your beer game, FIGJAM IPA is here to make a bold statement.
Because let’s face it—FIGJAM is every bit as good as it thinks it is.
