Burleigh Brewing has teamed up with Budějovický Budvar, the world-renowned brewery based in České Budějovice with over 800 years of uncompromising brewing tradition, to bring you Czech Mates.
AN INTERNATIONAL LAGER
As custodians of an 800-year-old brewing legacy, Budějovický Budvar are highly selective when it comes to collaborating with international breweries. The launch of this long-term partnership marks Budvar’s first-ever collaboration with an Australian brewery. Czech Mates is more than just a beer – it’s a celebration of tradition, shared values, and the global language of great brewing.
WHO IS BUDĚJOVICKÝ BUDVAR?
Like us, Budějovický Budvar are beer brewers with a shared focus on quality and precision. Czech is known for brewing traditions that date back to 13th Century. Traditional Budvar batches are brewed in České Budějovice in artesian wells that are 300 metres deep using water heritage of a lake from the Ice Age, with Moravian malt and Saaz hops to create world renowned lagers. While we don’t have Ice Age lakes here in Burleigh, Czech Mates still incorporates Czech’s first class hops and Budvar’s proprietary yeast for that true Czech character.
SHARED VALUES WITH OUR CZECH MATES
Each batch brewed at Burleigh Brewing takes as long as it needs to develop its full bodied taste, the same way it would be done like our mates in České Budějovice. The result? A slow brewed, clean beer that is preservative free, non-pasteurised and vegan. Combining Czech tradition with Australian precision to create a lager that is as refreshing as it is refined.
