Over the years, a number of people who are sensitive to gluten have indicated to us that they are OK drinking our beers.
Our beers are brewed with malted barley, but crafted to reduce gluten.
Many consumers are interested in the gluten content of the food and beverages they consume – beer included. We’re keen to ensure you can make an informed decision for your particular dietary desires.
Our beers are all made from the one and only truly authentic grain source for brewing – malted barley. Barley contains gluten. In Australia that means our beers cannot be referred to as ‘’gluten-free’’, regardless of their final gluten content.
In Australia, Low Gluten is defined as a gluten content of <20mg per 100g (200PPM) of the food or beverage.
A combination of steps in the brewing process for our beers, along with our slow-brewing approach, leads to our naturally-fresh flavour profile and reduces the gluten content well below the Low Gluten threshold – with lab testing for many showing ‘no detectable gluten’ at a 10mg/kg (10PPM) threshold. To confirm the results, our beers are tested by independent food safety labs who use testing methods specifically designed for fermented foods/beverages.
