We were beyond excited to celebrate the Australian launch of Czech Mates at the Burleigh Taphouse - our very own authentic Czech-style lager, brewed in collaboration with the world-famous Budějovický Budvar. It’s a first for Australia, and an absolute honour for us to bring a taste of Czech tradition to the Gold Coast.
Czech Mates is a beautifully balanced lager that perfectly marries Czech heritage with Australian craftsmanship. And it’s not just about the beer itself. It’s about how you enjoy it. From the daring mliko (mostly foam!) to the šnyt (two fingers of beer, three fingers of foam) or the hladinka (a classic Czech pour with about one-third foam), each pour brings out a different flavour profile, giving beer fans the chance to taste the Czech masters’ centuries-old tradition firsthand.
We were joined in the Taphouse by the Budějovický Budvar team who made the trip out from the Czech Republic as well as Lukas Svoboda, award-winning bartender and Czech lager expert, to share the Czech pour knowledge in an exclusive masterclass.
